The average Mets fans has been through a lot in the last decade or so. And most of it hasn't been good.

Mets fans have seen bad trades, no trades and trades that fell through. We have seen dozens of players disappoint with the Mets and then thrive for some other team, and usually against us. We've seen players crying on the field and grown adults crying in the stands.

We have seen many parades of celebration for the other team in the area, while the only parade we were involved in was the stream of people leaving the stadium during another brutal loss.

Mets fans are certainly a patient bunch. While other teams adopt slogans like "Anything but a championship is a disappointment", we say things like "Just wait til next year". And we have to deal with people who see our Mets hat, snicker and say "sorry" and then laugh and walk to their car with the Yankees logo on it.

I don't know how far we'll go this year, but I do know a couple of things. First, I really appreciate even making the post season and I'm trying to enjoy every minute of it. And secondly, Mets fans really do deserve this. We really do.
