If you live in the West Belmar section of Wall, here's the deal on what's coming to your neighborhood.

A Route 71 and Second Ave. microbrewery was approved by the Planning Board last night. It will be a 6,000 square foot building with production facilities and a tasting room.

There will be no restaurant on site and no food will be served. This will be primarily a beer production facility with space for tours and beer tasting.

The applicant did not indicate when he will start building the brewery and any construction will still need to go through the normal permitting process.

This section of Rt. 71 is on the border of Spring Lake Heights and Lake Como and very close to the 'new' CVS on the corner of Rt. 71 and 18th Ave. Behind that CVS is a very peaceful neighborhood that may be a little upset when they hear about this approval.

The streets of this family neighborhood are narrow with no sidewalks and if extra cars start parking there to go to the brewery it could really upset the ambiance of this area of Wall.

On the flip side, any new construction on the Rt. 71 corridor in the Belmar/Wall area can only serve to improve that stretch of highway.

What are your thoughts on this new project?
