It's been a rough summer for "Buffy The Buffalo." On July 3, the Middletown landmark buffalo was vandalized; knocked over with its leg broken. After a little TLC, we are happy to report that Buffy has returned home.

It was a sight we look forward to seeing on Cherry Tree Farm Road. The story behind "Buffy The Buffalo" is touching.

According to NJ Advance Media, the 88-year-old resident’s husband bought the buffalo for her as an anniversary gift but passed away in 2006 before he was able to give it to her, so her son picked it up and helped her place it in the front yard. The woman said the buffalo statue served as a reminder of her late husband.

Residents are still looking for answers as to who exactly harmed "Buffy." A "Buffalo of Middletown" Facebook page has been set up to keep the community in the loop.

Here's a look at Buffy's journey.
