The event took place Saturday. So who came out on top?

The firefighters competed in five different events, flexing the skills that they use in their hometowns on a regular basis.

In the hose laying event, Freehold Boro finished first. Shrewsbury came in second. Hazlet was third.

Jamesburg won the hose and ladder event. Morganville came in second and Shrewsbury third.

Hazlet took the Busted Hose event, with Freehold Township Independent Fire Company taking second and Shrewsbury in third.

The East Freehold Fire Company won in water polo, followed by Hazlet in second place and Farmingdale in third.

In the Ladies Bucket Brigade, Holmdel took top honors. Shrewsbury finished second, and Freehold Boro was third.

When all the points were counted, the squad from Hazlet came out the all -around champions. Freehold Boro was second for the day, and Shrewsubry was third.

One thing's for sure, though, and that is the thanks we should give to the brave men and women who save lives around Monmouth County...and everywhere!
