Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden (Lou Russo, Townsquare Media)

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden has unveiled the new "text a tip" program  as another step to help combat crime.

The program is a way for anyone to text information about suspicious activity anonymously, anytime and from anywhere simply by sending a text. The sheriff reminds everyone to utilize 911 to report a crime in progress, however to report a tip or suspicious activity, an anonymous text can be sent to authorities.

To use the service, just enter the number 67283 and include MONTIPS in the body of the message. The text tip line is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To get more information, visit the Monmouth County Sheriff website.
