While I think we locals know this already, I'm glad this town is getting some recognition.

Lifestyle website Thrillist went state-by-state identifying towns that they feel are underrated. They described these places as "treasure[s] hiding in plain sight."

For New Jersey, Red Bank got the distinction of being the Garden State's most underrated town.

Why? Thrillist writer Wil Fulton describes Red Bank as a "low-key small town with big-city cool." I think that's dead on.

We're so used to seeing so much negative press when it comes to Jersey. So it's refreshing to see a national quote like this:

[Red Bank] is a veritable Swiss Army Knife of recreation. Spend the night at the palatial Molly Pitcher Inn, overlooking the Navesink River. Visit Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, hometown boy Kevin Smith's comic book store. Go to Carlo's Bakery, and gaze at the glazes and the cake (boss). Catch a show at the Count Basie Theatre, the venue fit for a 1920s gala and named after (yet another) hometown hero.

These pictures speak volumes!

Personally, I think Asbury Park should be tied with or second to Red Bank when it comes to being underrated.
