The Monmouth County Courthouse in Freehold will stay closed on Monday as the search continues for why dozens of employees were sickened and hospitalized over a week ago.

In a press release, County officials say tests for “volatile compounds” in the courthouse such as  mold, pollen, dust and other common allergens have come up negative. Officials from the state Department of Health and Senior Services asked to conduct a more prolonged, 24-hour test that was done Thursday and Friday.

Results from the latest tests are expected tomorrow and will help determines when the Courthouse can reopen.

The entire building was cleaned again Friday night after testing was completed.
