I just paid my quarterly property tax bill in Toms River. Ouch. Trust me, I know mine could be worse. NJ Advance Media went county-by-county to find the town with the lowest property taxes based on average income. The results may surprise you!

MONMOUTH COUNTY - Interlaken Borough

This one is interesting because Interlaken has the on of the highest average incomes in NJ at $135,938, yet they manage to have the lowest property taxes in Monmouth based on this ratio. Per year, the average resident of Interlaken is paying $8,536.

An "honorable mention" goes to Manalapan Township with a $107,569 median income and $8,162 average property tax bill. Shoutout to Marlboro Township with a $137,805 to $10,748 average ratio.

OCEAN COUNTY - Beachwood Borough

The average property tax bill in Beachwood is $4,736, which is not bad for a median income of $71,540.

Honorable mentions to South Toms River Borough, with a $66,250 to $4,603 average ratio.
