Winter is about to give Monmouth & Ocean Counties a brutal reminder that it's still winter at the Jersey Shore.

We wake up this morning to an addition to our forecast that is not exactly what we want to hear. In addition to the coastal flood advisory, you can add a blizzard warning for Monmouth and Coastal Ocean counties.

The blizzard warning will be in effect from 8pm tonight (Monday) to 6:00 pm tomorrow (Tuesday). The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 7:00am to 3:00 pm tomorrow (Tuesday). There is also a high wind warning for the area.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow is calling for accumulations of potentially over a foot of snow for a majority of western Monmouth & Ocean Counties, with the possibility of less closer to the coast due to a rain mixture at times, but even at the coast, accumulations are expected to be 6-12 inches.

Dan is saying the first flakes could be as early s 8:00pm, but the peak activity of for this storm will be Tuesday between 2:00am and 2:00pm, and then the snow begins to taper off.

Dan will continue to monitor the progress of the storm and will have comprehensive updates with his weather blogs that will keep you informed of the very latest, so check in frequently.

And of course Liz and I will be here first thing in the morning to keep you updated on everything you need to know about the storm, and remember , for closings and cancellations, visit the Point Stormwatch page.
