The New Jersey man charged after Rosie O'Donnell's daughter was found in his home sent the teen a nude photo, according to a criminal complaint disclosed by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Monday.

The office said it had received several public records requests for the complaint, briefly describing the charges against Steven M. Sheerer, 25, of Barnegat. He's being held on $40,000 bail at the Ocean County Jail on child endangerment charges and is expected to have a first court appearance by video Monday.

Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Al Della Fave previously said that after authorities examined a 17-year-old's cell phone, they discovered "evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks between Sheerer and the minor."

He didn't say whether the alleged victim was O'Donnell's daughter or otherwise identify her, and her named is not disclosed on the release of the complaint. But a spokeswoman for O'Donnell has said the case involves the star's daughter, Chelsea.

"He was involved with a minor, and Rosie's concern has been and always will be the health, safety and well-being of her daughter," Cindi Berger told The Associated Press. "Rosie is profoundly appreciative for the work the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has done and the diligence of the local police."

Sheerer is charged with third-degree distribution of obscenity to a minor and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted each charge carries a penalty of five years in New Jersey State Prison. The court also invoked "Nicole's Law," which forbids Sheerer from having any contact with the victim or her family.

The week has been a fraught one for the O'Donnell family. Entertainment Weekly reports Rosie O'Donnell's father died of cancer Saturday.
