If you worry about your kid with autism walking out of school one day while following a bird or chasing a cloud....then you are just one of many who has a developmentally or mentally challenged person in their life that would need emergency help right away if they became lost.

Governor Christie has signed into law a bill to create the MVP Emergency Alert System.

This alert system will be aimed at helping missing persons with mental, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.

It will be similar to the Amber and Silver Alerts to get information out quickly when a vulnerable person is at risk.

MVP stands for 'missing, vulnerable person' when the person missing may be in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

The alerts would include instructions as to how the missing vulnerable person should be approached, if at all, and about what might agitate them.
