The Garden State will be well represented at Opening Day at Citi Field as the Mets have chosen a New Jersey band to sing the National Anthem.

There were over 150 applicants, but the New Jersey band The Whiptones rose to the occasion to claim the honor, according to nydailynews.com. The band is a quartet of high school doo wop singers from Whippany.

Officials say that some of the other contestants will most likely be invited to perform the National Anthem at other Mets games, but no names of those participants were released. The youngest singer was a 7 year old girl, Amanda Summa, who has already appeared in a production of "Les Miserable", according to the article.

The Mets Opening Day at Citi Field is March 31st, when they take on the Washington Nationals.
