If some recent research is accurate, then New Jersey is the least patriotic state in the United States of America.

Wallethub.com has ranked each state on it's level of patriotism and uses things like military engagement and civil engagement to come up with it's results. They also factored in military enlistees per capita as well as peace corps volunteers and veterans per capita.

Another consideration was number of adult citizens who voted in the 2016 presidential election. Here's a couple of those categories in which the Garden State performed especially poorly.

Average # of military enlistees NJ rank...47

Fewest veterans per capita NJ rank 49

When all of their data was compiled, wallethub.com named New Jersey the least patriotic state in the country. Needless to say, living in New Jersey, that is not the experience I have had.

I don't have research data to quote you to prove it, but I know a lot of New Jersey residents who love our country, serve our country, have family members who serve our country, support our troops and vote.

The Garden State is the most generous state I know and when it comes to being there for our neighbors, including military families in need of support, no research will convince me that the Garden State ranks last.

I know that a lot goes into being patriotic, and I'm not sure if this research captures all of it or not. But I do know I've always thought of New Jersey residents as a patriotic bunch. And that hasn't changed.
