A New Jersey man didn't even realize that a lottery ticket he stuffed into his wallet was worth $1 million.

Here's what happened. A Marlton man purchased a Mega Millions tickets in July with the hopes of grabbing the $543 million dollar jackpot. When he heard the winning ticket was sold in California, he never bothered to check his ticket, according to nj.com.

It took him nearly a week to find out that the ticket sitting in his wallet was one of two sold in the Garden State that were worth $1 million! The other winning million dollar ticket (for the July 24th drawing) was sold in Warren County.

The man, Bruce Schaffer syas he's going to use some of his winnings to 'spoil his grandchildren', according to the article. That sounds like an awesome way to celebrate the win!

So, here's another example of why we should always check those tickets! I don't always do it, so that's the first thing I'm going to do when I get home today. If I can find them.
