New Jersey will be represented at Sunday's Academy Awards with a nominee in a major category, but this is hardly a rarity.

As a matter of fact, it would be big news if the Garden State wasn't represented, after all,  two native New Jersey celebrities alone are responsible for 6 Oscar wins in a major category (best actor, best actress, supporting actor, supporting actress) and 26 additional nominations.

Our representation once again this year is in the form of Meryl Streep's nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her work in Florence Foster Jenkins.

If she wins, it will be her 4th victory in that category (Kramer vs. Kramer 1980, Sophie's Choice 1983 and Iron Lady 2012). Counting this year's nomination, Streep has collected 17 total nominations for her lead or supporting roles over the years, and that's not counting the three wins.

If you throw in the great Jack Nicholson, who himself has won 3 Oscars, including two for Best Actor( One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest 1976 and As Good As It Gets 1998), and his additional 9 nominations in the lead or supporting actor categories, and you could see why, based on just these two stars, it's rare that the Garden State is not represented at Hollywood's biggest night.

The year's listed for the movies are the year the award was presented.
