New Jersey’s Best Pie Is – What?

I would say New Jersey is famous for some amazing pies, but the pie that is considered our best pie in the state by one publication really surprised me.

The report, at msn.com, says that the Daily Meal has listed the best pie in every state.  Georgia is peach pie and Hawaii is coconut cream pie. Florida is key lime pie and New Jersey is...sweet green tomato pie. Wait. What?

Sweet green tomato pie? Not only have I never had it, I've never seen it or heard of it. Am I the only one? Now, I get it. New Jersey tomatoes are the best in the world, right? So it makes sense that a publication about food would want to associate us with tomatoes.

But is the sweet green tomato pie the best pie in the Garden State. Better than our amazing blueberry pies or any of the other wonderful pies we have enjoyed over the years?

Maybe I'm way out of the loop on this one, and maybe I should track down a sweet green tomato pie and try it before I make an opinion, but am I the only one surprised by this?
