New Jersey is not the state with the worst economy according to Business Insider, but it is in the bottom third in the United States.

Business Insider used indicators like unemployment, gross domestic product, average wages and home prices, and ranked all 50 states, according to MSN.com.The Garden State was not in the bottom 10, but we are close.

According to the research, New Jersey ranked #36, and the experts say it is because we were hit hard by the housing crisis, as well as Superstorm Sandy. The state that ranks worst is Alaska, and the state that ranks #1 is Colorado. New York ranks #23.
