Nickelback is a band we play all the time on 94.3 The Point. We've found throughout their career that people either love them...or hate Chad Kroeger and the crew.

Nickelback fans are true fans and are very loyal. Myself and The Point took listeners to a concert a couple of summers ago and it was amazing how into the show everyone got. That was here in Jersey.

Nickelback is set to play the halftime show at the Packers/Lions Thanksgiving Day game, and the people of The Motor City are not thrilled to say the least. They've even gone as far as to get an online petition going to disinvite the band to the game. The reason stated for the petition on change.org:

This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.

As of this writing they have nearly 15,000 signatures. So, why so much hating towards Nickelback?
