Two New Jersey State Police cruisers were struck by lightning as a trooper sat in each on Tuesday afternoon as a strong storm moved through South Jersey.

In a post on their Facebook page, State Police say the unidentified troopers were working a construction zone on the Garden State Parkway in Middle Township when each of their cruisers were struck just after 2 p.m as the thunderstorm moved to the northeast along the coast.

One of the  troopers was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center for evaluation but, according to the tweet, "seems to be alright."

The second trooper did not require medical attention.
