This sounds like something that would be written for a satire site like The Onion, but nope, it's true.

An awful woman from NYC is vying for the title of "Worst Aunt Ever."

It all started when 54-year-old Jennifer Connell attended her then-8-year-old nephew Sean Tarala's birthday party in 2011.

The boy was so excited to see his "Auntie Jen" when she arrived that he jumped into her arms, causing them both to fall, and her to break her wrist.

She's now suing the 12-year-old for $127,000 in damages. Seriously.

According to CTPost.com, she said while testifying in court last week, "I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult, and we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.”

Oh, you poor thing! I didn't realize you use your wrist to walk up the steps of your POSH UPPER EAST SIDE APARTMENT.

Wait. It gets so much better when she starts talking about the nightmare toll it's taken on her social life:

She testified, "I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate."

OH THE HUMANITY!!

The lawsuit claims an 8-year-old should have known the "harms and losses" such a hug forceful greeting could cause. (You know, like the trauma of struggling to hold an hors d'oeuvre plate.)

Even if there is way more to this story, is it necessary to drag a kid into court?

Making things worse is the fact that young Sean's mother passed away last year.

Aunt of the Year-candidate Connell claims she didn't say anything to him about the injury on the day of the actual incident because it was his birthday party and she didn't want to upset him. The year after he loses his mom though, game on!

Luckily, a jury showed a good amount of common sense, and sided with the boy, finding him not liable for his actions (and not owing her a dime.)

Think she'll be invited over for Thanksgiving dinner this year?
