The grant for street repairs was announced Friday by shore Representative Tom MacArthur (R-3). It's supplied through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and aimed at Sandy-related repairs.

MacArthur, in prepared comments, expressed satisfaction for the acknowledgement of the tribulations Toms River has endured since the 2012 storm.

“Three years ago Superstorm Sandy changed New Jersey forever,” MacArthur said. “The devastation was fierce and lasting and many in our community are still recovering today..I look forward to continuing to work with the community groups and local leaders who have already done so much, to ensure that not one resident is forgotten as our recovery continues.”

Mayor Thomas Kelaher called the grant, "a step in the right direction to get the roads on the barrier islands repaired.”
