My boys and I have a long-standing date at the Belmar Seafood Festival.

We used to live in Belmar, which made it a really easy bike ride to the annual Seafood Festival. When they were little, the boys would just have fun walking around the kids' craft stations and bounce houses. Then Benj decided he loved seafood and this is a picture of him from a couple of years ago with a big spread in front of him.

Now we live in Manasquan but because they grew up of riding bikes to the event, they still insist on not breaking the tradition. Which means every year now, we ride our bikes MUCH further than my body enjoys....especially since I always find myself riding back home with a basket full of lobsters and King Crab Legs from Kleins!

The New Jersey Seafood Festival in Belmar takes place this weekend...rain or shine. Plenty of fresh steamed, broiled, baked, friend and raw seafood (and plenty of your usual festival foods too, from french fries to fried oreos. ) Lots of area seafood restaurants and vendors take part, as well as artists and craft tents for gift-buying, and lots of activities for the kids. Live music in the gazebo, too, from some great local bands. It's really a wonderful time. And it's free to get in...although all that eating and shopping will cost you, lol!
