Owner of Truck that Sank in the Toms River Will Face Animal Cruelty Charges
The Toms River man whose pickup truck fell into the Toms River will face animal cruelty charges. However, this case has taken an unusual turn.
27-year-old Andrew Mayer of Toms River was charged with the following:
- third-degree criminal mischief
- reckless driving and pollution
- third-degree failure to provide proper care by recklessly endangering an animal's life
Last week in a poll I asked you if you thought Mayer deserved animal cruelty charges. Check out the results.
Over 95% agreed that Mayer should indeed face animal cruelty charges.
The interesting twist in this story is that Mayer is choosing to represent himself in this case. Even after the judge explained that if he is found guilty he could face major jail time, the 27 year old still wants to act alone.
