The much anticipated vote took place yesterday with unexpected results. The Point Pleasant Beach town council voted down an ordinance that would have given bars the opportunity to stay open until 2am as long as they paid extra fees that would go  toward paying for additional police patrols in neighboring residential areas.

An appeal has beeen made to the state Liquor Control Board and unless it is successful, Point Pleasant Beach bars will have to close at midnight beginning July 1st.

Many residents in town are divided on the decision, Some are relieved, saying things are out of control, while others feel the activities the ruling is trying to eliminate will not disappear, just happen earlier in the evening.

Now that the vote has been taken, has your mind changed about the topic? Where do you stand on the midnight closing? Let your voice be heard by voting in our poll. And feel free to leave your thought in our Comment section below.
