HOWELL — The body of a man found in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Friday was identified as a Tinton Falls man.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni identified the body as Weldon Spaulding Jr, 61. An autopsy on Saturday will determine the cause and manner of death, according to Gramiccioni.

Police taped off the far end of the parking lot of the store on Route 9 following the discovery of the body and a black sedan around 1:30 p.m. Gramiccioni did not disclose if the car belonged to Spaulding or how he got to the parking lot.

The Home Depot shares the parking lot with a Dunkin' Donuts, Checkers, Chase Bank and a Jiffy Lube.

Gramiccioni said the joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Howell Township Police Department is active and ongoing.

The prosecutor asked anyone with information about the incident to call his office at 800-533-7443 or Howell Township Police at 732-620-4280.
