The Joint Base is the only of its kind with the Air Force Base, Naval Air Engineering Station and Fort Dix all in one location. It's home to more than 38,000 active-duty, reserve and guard service members, civilian workers and their families.

In mid-October, Obama had been scheduled to visit New Jersey, for a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser in Union, but cancelled that trip to convene an emergency meeting at the White House with cabinet agencies coordinating the government’s Ebola response in West Africa.

A spokesman for Gov. Chris Christie's office had no immediate comment on whether Gov. Christie would attend the event, but NJ.com reports that Christie will attend the event as well.
