Our Point Pet of the week was found in front of a vet's office after being hit by a car...in Puerto Rico.

Good thing the amazing people at the Monmouth County SPCA will travel near AND far to rescue dogs and puppies that need forever homes.

Julito is 6-months old, but his friends call him 'Rico', and no one is quite sure what kind of mixed breed he is, although some are speculating he has some German Shepherd genes. It doesn't look, thought, like he will be too large. Right now he weighs about 25 pounds and will most likely gain a few more over the next few months.

Julito is very shy with people but he loves other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He is in a foster home right now where he is learning to trust people. He is improving every day! Now he will come up to strangers to check them out with his tail wagging. Sometimes he will even give sweet kisses or nibbles, just like a puppy should. He's been meeting lots of new people and making strides every day.

In his foster home, Julito sleeps in bed with the humans and the other dogs very contentedly and enjoys being pet and cuddled. He is also excelling in his potty training and only rarely has accidents in the house.

Julito thrives in the company of other dogs. He really loves them and learns by taking their lead. So the MCSPCA strongly feels he should be adopted into a home that has at least one other dog to put him at ease and guide him in becoming a confident dog. He enjoys going for walks with other dogs and especially loves long walks on the beach.

Since this precious puppy is staying with a foster family, please call the MCSPCA in Eatontown ahead of time to arrange to meet him. 732-440-1536. This puppy is going to turn into a wonderful dog and will flourish with lots of socialization and play time.
