Over 50 businesses remain charred to bits after this month's fire on the Seaside Boardwalk, however, more questions remain about the circumstances which caused the fire.

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato announced the fire was accidental, caused by old faulty wiring under the boardwalk that was damaged by Sandy. He also noted some of the sections of wire, which were as much as 40-years-old, were inaccessible because of sand and debris.

Numerous requests to Seaside Park about the electrical code inspection process went unreturned. JCP&L has said the wiring does not belong to them, but ownership of the faulty wiring has yet to be determined.

The Borough of Seaside Park has released no information about when the wiring was last approved, and how the electrical systems damaged by Sandy were able to pass.
