The New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced that all lanes of Route 35 throughout the reconstruction project will be open and available to travelers for the summer season.

This is welcome news for Jersey Shore residents with 4th of July upon us and the summer kicking into full gear. Although the project is not 100% complete, all lanes will be open to traffic.

There will be some continuing work on the project, but it will be limited to shoulders, sidewalks, curbs, and landscaping to keep the work on schedule for fall completion.

In Lavallette, Brick and Toms River, the vast majority of the work is reportedly complete, with the final paving to be completed in the fall. In Mantoloking and Bay Head paving and drainage work are complete. Some sidewalk and landscape work that won't affect traffic remains to be done.
