All west bound traffic over the Route 571 bridge over the Toms River on the Manchester line will be detoured onto 527 as repairs are made to the structure.   Eastbound drivers can still cross as usual.

According to Frank Scarantino  of the Ocean County Road Department the detour will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Route 571 is a direct, two lane road from Toms River to Jackson and Interstate 195.

The detour will take motorist from 571 onto 527 north (Whitesville Road)  to State Highway 70. Motorists will then make a left westbound onto State Route 70 to return to 571.

Police will be directing traffic at key intersections. Officials hope to have work completed by July 4th although it could last longer.
