Safest Big Towns at the Jersey Shore
A new 2013 report is out with New Jersey's safest "big towns." Big towns are defined as towns with a population of 40,000 or more. Those towns with the lowest violent crime rate were ranked in the top 15 safest big towns in New Jersey. Here's how Monmouth and Ocean counties fared.

4) Middletown (Population: 66,522) (Crime rate: .61)
11) Berkley (Population: 41,255) (Crime rate: .82)
13) Howell (Population: 51,075) (Crime rate: .92)
14) Toms River (Population: 91,239) (Crime rate: .99)
Bridgewater was number one on the list.
