And welcome to the first official blizzard of 2018. The snow is really coming down at the Jersey Shore so let's make sure you are prepared to handle the aftermath.

If you are one of those people that need to shovel throughout the day or get the job done yourself, at least do so safely. The safer you are, the more you can get done and the more affective you will be.

So take a look at some tips listed below!

1. Do Not Lift

Don't underestimate the fluffy white stuff because it is SUPER heavy and can do some serious damage if you have a bad back. If you can, push the snow and if you are in a situation where you have to life, only partially fill your shovel with snow.

2. Salt Is Your Best Friend

Continuously spreading salt will make a huge difference. Have you ever tried to tackle shoveling after a snow storm like this without spreading salt? Trust me, you will regret it.

3. Get The Kids

They are younger, stronger, and much more physically able for an intense job like this. Consider it practice for their full time job in the future and plus, they have got to do something during their snow day.

4. Use Official Snow Boots

Keeping your feet warm will make you that much more productive but also keep in mind that you will be walking over slippery snow and patches of ice. The last thing you need while getting the job done is to take a hard fall that will have you bed ridden for the next few weeks.

5. Stretch Frequently

Warmed up muscles are the most effective muscles. Make sure you stretch before you even get started and then take breaks throughout the strenuous process.
