Sandycastle on Point Pleasant Beach has become a symbol of rebuilding for so many people along the Jersey Shore, and yesterday, it had it's official ribbon cutting ceremony.

For me, the highlight of the ceremony was hearing the passion in the voice of the man behind Sandycastle, Ed Jarrett. The artist who has spent months creating his masterpiece has clearly fallen in love with the Jersey Shore and the people who make it so special.

He spent a great deal of time expressing his appreciation to all the volunteers who have been so critical to the success of the project, especially the thousands of students who participated.

Ed said he promised those kids a world record and he wants to deliver, so the ceremonial first pail was dropped to symbolize the start of a new castle that would be a record breaker and be completed in time for the 1st anniversary of Sandy.

Proceeds from Sandycastle benefit Hometown Heroes.
