If it's time to get your pet 'fixed' and you have checked with your vet on the prices, you probably came close to falling off your chair. Here's another way.

Very recently I was helping a friend plan to get her 6-month old cat spayed. I started by calling two vets in our area that I like...but was quoted 'starting' prices close to $400!!! I couldn't believe it! No wonder no one is adopting animals...the costs for vet check-ups, shots, microchipping, and neutering/spaying is astronomical. Just walking in the office for a shot can run you close to $100! And many times they make you come in multiple times for shots and check-ups, so that you pay a huge price for each office visit.

So I called my friends at the Monmouth County SPCA (MCSPCA) who specialize in spaying/neutering, vaccines, and microchipping. Here's how I look at it. If you get cancer...your first thought is to go to a place like Memorial Sloan Kettering that specializes in cancer treatment. So why wouldn't you go to a place that takes care of thousands and thousands of animals when you need your pet taken care of?

The veterinarians that work at the MCSPCA are top notch, and the cost of any of the services there are STAGGERINGLY LOWER. Enough to make it worth a trip to their main facility in Eatontown. Even spaying is done same-day. And you can bang out quite a few things at once, like spaying, microchipping, and rabies vaccines for SO MUCH LESS than those visits would cost you at a regular vet.

For the record, I love the vetS that I have used in the past, and have heard wonderful things about so many of the other vets in our area. But if you are struggling with finances, I really wanted to pass along this wonderful option to you. After all, the MCSPCA is in the business of SAVING lives, so you know you can trust them. I know that for over 30 years my family, friends, and I have been trusting our pets to the MCSPCA.
