A ferry accident this morning reminds us that everything can change in an instant.

At about 9 a.m., a Seastreak Ferry that departed from Highlands crashed into Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan, near the South St. Seaport. Up to 50 people have been reported injured, 1 in critical condition.

Ferry accidents are rare, but everyday commuting can feel like heading into battle. All of those people on that ferry headed out the door this morning to go to work, never thinking that a couple of hours later they'd be in the hospital.

Just last night on my way home from work, I witnessed an EXTREMELY close call as an out-of-state driver failed to yield at the 33/34/547 circle and almost broad-sided another car. It would have been a serious wreck.

It's just insane how your life can change in a moment, and a definite reminder not to take anyone, or anything, for granted.

Wishing a speedy recovery for those involved in today's crash.
