Ah, this week, I could help us transition into fall with something pumpkin or apple-flavored, but NO, it's still summer at the shore for at least a few more weeks.

Instead, this week I raise my glass to (former) child stars, who sometimes make me want to just celebrate their talent, but more often make me want to drink to forget the trainwrecks they've become.

This week is a nod to a great talent (and cocktail), Shirley Temple...and a knock on the hot mess that Miley Cyrus has become (Thanks VMAs!).

Kick off your Labor Day Weekend with the Shirley Cyrus!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. bourbon whiskey
  • 1 oz. grenadine
  • 2-3 oz lemon-lime soda
  • maraschino cherry or lemon twist (to garnish)

Pour bourbon and grenadine in a glass over ice, top with soda. Garnish with lemon.

Voila. That easy... (like Miley! Hey-ooooh!)

Ways to switch it up:

Use fresh lemon/lime juice with club soda in place of the lemon-lime soda.
Use a different liquor: Irish whiskey might be a little harsh, but vodka or rum would work nicely.

Have a fabulous holiday weekend!

*Please drink responsibly.*
