JERSEY SHORE — If you smell or see smoke this weekend while you are on the Garden State Parkway it's nothing serious, just prescribed burning according to The New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry Service.

Prescribed Burning is the process of planning and applying fire to a predetermined area, under specific environmental conditions, to achieve the desired outcome. This is a controlled fire monitored by local authorities.

Areas affected this weekend include 26 acres at Allaire State Park in Wall Township, two acres at Double Trouble State Park in Berkeley Township and 71 acres at Pine Valley in Camden County.

Authorities urge that if you ever have any doubt about the source of smoke or the fire to dial 9-1-1 immediately or dial 877-WARN-DEP.
