The first thing I heard this morning was that something was racing toward the Earth at 4 milllion mph. Not exactly the way you want to start the day! Here's the story. Tuesday, the Sun produced one of the biggest flares ever seen, according to The results of it could affect power grids, GPS navigation systems  and some airline schedules starting tonight and continuing through early tomorrow. The particles are speeding toward Earth at 4 million mph as we speak.

This seems like something right out of a science fiction movie, but it's not. The particles heading toward Earth will likely cause a geomagnetic storm that may cause the inconveniences.  Experts think most of us won't notice much, except for some possible intermittent satellite navigation system issues and maybe some rerouted flights so they don't fly too near the poles. Wild stuff, huh?
