Well, here's some early historical background courtesy of jenkinsons.com. Charles Jenkinson arrived at the Jersey Shore with so many others hoping to cater to all the tourists in the area. He opened soda fountains in Asbury Park and Ocean Grove, but didn't like some landlord restrictions he was under so he bought some property in Point Pleasant Beach in 1926.

Soon after he did, in 1928, Jenkinson's Pavilion was opened, complete with the candy shop and soda fountain. Across the boardwalk was a swimming pool. Not long after that, miniature golf was added.

Charles passed away in 1937, but his son Orlo stepped in and kept the growth going until his passing in 1964. By the late 70's the area needed a boost. The next time around we'll tell you all about the revitalization of Jenkinson's when Pat Storino stepped in.
