Spraygrounds in Monmouth and Ocean Counties
It's only June and we're already hitting the 90 degree mark, so who knows how hot July and August will get!
On a hot day, bring the kids to cool off at one of the many spraygrounds at the Jersey Shore!
What's a sprayground? It's a playground...with water. They are usually best for younger kids, but then again...so are most playgrounds.
It's way more fun than the old-school method of opening a local fire hydrant...and not as dangerous for you and the neighbors!
- Asbury Park - The Asbury Splash Park is on the Asbury Park boardwalk, and has a mini-golf course next door. The Splash Park is open daily from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. ($9/kids, $5/adults, discounted after 4 p.m. Family packages available.)
- Colts Neck - Dorbrook Recreation Area Sprayground just off Rt. 537 is open on weekdays from 11 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. It closes for the season on Sept. 7.
- Freehold - The Splash Pad at Michael J. Tighe Park (Georgia Rd. at Remembrance Rd.) is not yet open for the season, but is expected to open at the end of the month. (Hours will likely be daily 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. $4 admission.)
- Manchester - The Pine Lake Park Splash Pad is along Lake Drive with an adjoining playground and picnic area.
Then of course there are the big water parks like Runaway Rapids in Keansburg, Hurricane Harbor in Jackson, Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights!
Break out the bathing suits and get your splash on!
