Spring your clocks ahead an hour before bedtime Saturday night
It's hard to believe with all this wintry weather we're having at the Jersey Shore spring is just 16-days away, but this weekend we officially turn the clocks ahead an hour.
Before you go to bed Saturday night be sure to adjust your clocks, cell phones and watches an hour ahead.
Yes, you'll loose an hour of sleep but look at the bright side, it's more sunlight.
The sun will also start to slowly go down even later at night, another sign summer is also on the way.
Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato reminds us that it's also a good time to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors at home.
Plus if you act now, they're even willing to help you out a bit.
"Berkeley Township will continue to offer, free of charge, a limited amount of of 9-volt and Double A (AA) batteries to township residents," Amato said. "They will be available on a first come first serve basis, while supplies last."
He says residents are limited to two 9 volt and/or six Double A (AA) batteries per household and you will be required to fill out a form.
Batteries will be available at the Fire Prevention Bureau office located on the first floor of Town Hall between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday - while supplies last.
"The Batteries were purchased with monies received by the township for fines assessed to violators." Mayor Amato said.
For more information, residents can call the Fire Prevention offices at: 732-244-7400 extension 1235.
