I've been really excited to try the new Starbucks S'mores Frappuccino since I first heard about it a few weeks ago.

I finally had a chance to check it out and give you the review!

Survey says: it's pretty good!

Now, if you live under a rock and somehow don't know what s'mores are, they're delicious, campfire-y treats of graham crackers, milk chocolate, and toasted marshmallows. The hot marshmallows melt the chocolate, and it becomes a gooey, messy, wonderful combo of flavors.

Starbucks incorporates this flavor into their famous frozen drink by using marshmallow-flavored whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and adding graham-cracker syrup to their coffee Frappuccino mix.

Added bonus: My S'mores Frap came with a completely unnecessary but totally delicious chocolate lined cookie straw! It was very reminiscent of Piroulines, which I love. (My straw was totally functional, but if the chocolate inside the straw melts, it could clog up the end...)

Anyhoo. This drink is layered, starting with marshmallow whipped cream, then chocolate sauce, then frozen graham-flavored coffee Frappuccino base, topped with more marshmallow whipped cream, and topped with graham cracker bits.

You can get this with non-fat, 2%, whole, soy, or coconut milk, and with or without whipped cream. (Don't get it without the whipped cream on this, it's a crucial part of the flavor.)

I got a tall size with whole milk, and would absolutely consider it a dessert, not a coffee. It would have cost $4.55, but I had a free reward on my registered Starbucks Card, so it was totally free. Woo!)

"Just tell me how it tastes!!"

Okay, so, I found that the graham-flavored syrup in the Frappuccino tasted more like Golden Grahams cereal than actual graham crackers.

That said, if you get a mouthful of each component - the marshmallow whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and graham-flavored Frap -- it DOES taste like s'mores!

I might ask for them to double-blend the Frappuccino next time, as it got a little icy and less flavorful towards the end, which the double-blending usual remedies.

I'd say it's more of an occasional treat than a regular drink, just because it's a bit of a calorie bomb, but I'd totally order it again if I wanted a treat!

(I suppose you could get a version of this hot or iced, by NICELY asking for a Cafe Mocha with graham syrup and marshmallow whipped cream...but it's not technically on the menu, and I feel like it wouldn't taste nearly as good as the frozen version...)

If you want to try the S'mores Frappuccino, now's a good time: Between now and May 10th, Frappuccino Happy Hour returns -- all Fraps are half off from 3-5 p.m.!
