On the Wall/Manasquan border is a certain road that gets backed up with ridiculous delays.

Have you become stuck in 10-20 minutes of traffic on a road that should take 30-seconds to navigate?

If you live in that area, then you know I am talking about the mile-long strip of Atlantic Avenue between Rt. 34 and the Manasquan Circle/Rt. 35.

Consider yourself warned: This strip of road is a nightmare during daytime hours in the summer as beach traffic, swim school class traffic, and customers from other businesses along the strip combine for a major headache.  Dare I say it's worse than getting stuck at the drawbridge?

There are hundreds of cars entering or exiting the roadway and you will literally be stuck with no alternate route if you get caught in the madness.

You will be late to wherever you are headed, you will want to scream in frustration, and you will realize that there is no (legal) way out.  Isn't there a better way?

Okay. Rant over. And, for the sake of seeing both sides, I know lots of parents who have taken their kids to one of the culprits, Silton Swim School, to learn how to swim, and still other parents who worked there when they were younger as lifeguards or swim instructors and loved the place!  They have been around for 56 years and have taught literally hundreds of thousands of children from near and far how to swim.  Plus, they are only open for 10 weeks out of the year, so the traffic will subside sooner rather than later.

Ultimately, while traffic is obviously frustrating, it's also a part of life at the Shore and the price we pay for living in such a beautiful area... although that doesn't exactly help to alleviate the pain while stuck in it!

PRO TIP: We talked with Silton Swim School and they let us in on a 'local' secret: to avoid the traffic on Atlantic Avenue, take Tiltons Corner Road, which runs parallel with the area in question.  Just take a look at the map:

Have you gotten caught in this mess?  Do you take any alternate routes?
