High pressure will remain in control of New Jersey's atmosphere through the end of week, keeping pleasant temperatures and blue skies in the forecast.

Here are your weather headlines for Thursday, August 27, 2015...

Nice Weather Continues

It's a broken record forecast! But that is a very good thing, as low humidity and a sizable high pressure system will keep our weather quiet and comfortable over the next few days.

Just like Wednesday, Thursday will be mostly sunny, with some fair-weather clouds streaming through our skies throughout the day. For the most part, high temperatures will push into the lower 80s today.

The going streak of nice weather continues for Friday too, with mostly to partly skies and highs in the lower to mid 80s.

Hotter & More Humid

There are some weather changes afoot for the upcoming weekend, but our forecast still looks very good and very summerlike.

On Saturday, the arrival of a warmer and more humid air mass will cause both temperatures and dew points to bump up a bit. Highs will be in the mid 80s with a mix of sun and clouds.

The heat and humidity will build further on Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s. Spot 90s will even be possible in the warmest places. Furthermore, dew points in the 60s will make life feel a bit sticky during the heat of the day.

We are keeping the weekend forecast dry for now, as there are no major atmospheric forcings that would cause widespread rain. We are tentatively including a chance for an isolated shower or storm for Monday, but those chances are admittedly pretty low. Early next week appears to be all about some more hot, humid weather with high temperatures near 90°.

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Erika will impact the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today, before setting sights on the Bahamas and Florida. A good number of the tropical forecast models show the storm skirting up at least part of the U.S. East Coast, so it's important to keep an eye on Erika. Even if the storm stays hundreds of miles away from New Jersey, the surf impacts could be significant.

Again, it's way too early to ring the alarm bells, but the storm remains one that is worth watching.
