Lieutenant Michael Clancy of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office has spent his life helping others, and now the community is coming together to support him.

Lieutenant Clancy was diagnosed with ALS on August 17, 2016 and now his friends, family, co-workers and our community is supporting an amazing man who has dedicated his life to helping others in the community.

Please attend the Joan Dancy and PALS 11th Annual Manasquan Beach Valentine's Plunge at 12:00 noon this Saturday (Feb. 4). And then don't miss the After Plunge Event at Bar A from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

Get more info on the event or  join Clancy's Crew to show your support for Michael during his battle. You can also check out the video below to learn more. It features Maria Reverendo from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and Drew Clancy, from the Eatontown police. Drew is also Michael's cousin.

Also, please take a minute to see this video, which is a heartfelt collection of some of those who know Michael well talking about his dedication to family and work and his larger than life personality.

Here's what Drew Clancy has to say about his cousin...

"I just wanted to say that Mike has always been an inspiration to me.  There is no one that is more hardworking or dedicated to their job than Mike, while also being able to be an amazing brother, son, uncle, and friend to so many.  I can truly say I am not only proud to call Mike my cousin, but also one of my best friends.  Helping to put on this event is the least I could do for him and it has shown me how much Mike means to so many people.  I hope as many people as possible can come out this weekend to support this wonderful cause.  I promise it will be a great time"!

And here's what Maria Reverendo added...

"Hope burns eternal for me and for all of us! Michael is an extraordinary man. He is only 39 and full of life.Throughout the years he has always been there for us and now we will be there for him. This terrible disease has no idea who it picked a fight with! Clancy's Crew will show ALS no mercy"!
