Currently in New Jersey, pets are not allowed on public transportation unless they are service animals. State Senator Jeff Van Drew says we've learned from super-storm Sandy and past storms that for a lot of people a bus, train or cab is the only travel option and they will stay behind if they can't take their pets with them even if they're being directed to evacuate because of an emergency.
Many New Jerseyans who had to evacuate their homes as a result of Hurricane Sandy and the nor'easter didn't have time to grab their pets and unfortunately, had to leave them behind.
Local animal shelters and rescue groups were inundated with animals after Hurricane Sandy, and they are in desperate need of supplies.
The Molly Marie Angel Fund started at Bricktown Veterinary Hospital with an eight year old dog Molly (pictured) who had a tumor in her spine and required very expensive treatment the owners just couldn't afford. Bricktown Vet came up with the idea for the fund and Molly was able to get her treatment. Now, Tux needs your help.
