Restore the Shore

Reports are circulating that work will soon begin on rebuilding the Seaside boardwalk and the hope is that it will be open for business for Memorial Day weekend.  It makes me feel so good to see that Jersey spirit and I am rooting for it to happen about as hard as anyone can root for anything. But you have to wonder...is it possible?

"Scissors For Sandy Relief" is a massive cut-a-thon to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief, and it's another way neighbors are helping neighbors along the Jersey Shore.

Few people can understand the devastation we're facing post-Sandy like the people of New Orleans. When Katrina ripped their worlds apart in 2005, it seemed worlds away. Now, we're closer than ever, and one Katrina survivor shares some advice.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi, Danny DeVito and Christina Aguilers were among the stars who apperared on the telethon for Sandy relief and now Richie Sambora is helping the cause.

So many families have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy and with Thanksgiving just around the corner (it's only a week away! Ack!) one local resident wants those in need to have a chance to enjoy the holiday.

Many people who spent a good chunk of time volunteering after Hurricane Sandy have gone back to work and school, leaving many local groups in need of help.

In the midst of the devastation around the Shore, I sometimes close my eyes and try to fast forward my mind to the beginning of Summer 2013, when the doors of the Jersey Shore opens once again and we get to show off the amazing rebuilding job we did. I know that's far away and a huge challenge, but I also know if anyone can do it, we can.

Jersey's own Jon Bon Jovi toured Sandy-ravaged Sea Bright over the weekend and took time to meet with some local first responders.
