One of the unwelcome weather lessons we got last winter was Polar Vortex 101, and nobody wants to go through that again. There is talk, however, of a polar vortex already. Welcome to November.

The good news for us is that this polar vortex is an event that is much more of a concern for areas like the northern and central Plains and the Great Lakes. But after last years battles with the polar vortex, even that is too close. And isn't it early November? Are we really talking about this now?

It looks like the vortex will have some impact for us as welI. I spoke with our meteorologist Dan Zarrow and he says that things may get unusually cold around here. Here's Dan's thoughts on it...

"A pool of arctic air is expected to push into the Northern Plains early next week, and is currently scheduled to dive toward New Jersey late next week.  It's still a little too early to put a definite finger on the exact timing and temperatures... but I will say that next Thursday and Friday could get quite chilly for Monmouth and Ocean Counties."
