It's so hot and humid. And each time there is a call to the fire department, these great men and women -- quite often volunteers-- answer that call.

So I want to give a big THANK YOU to all of these great souls who stop what they are doing, put on pounds and pounds of gear that must be SO HOT in this weather, and come as quickly as they can to help us.

Sometimes it's just the smell of gas, or a CO2 detector that has gone off, or even a grill accidentally left on that brings them out...but many they are running into burning buildings and risking their own lives to save others.

In Point Pleasant Beach, the firefighters have their hands full in the summer with everything from fireworks, to boardwalk mishaps and electrical problems, to safety hazards caused by careless renters at local motels and beach cottages. These great men (pictured) came out to our neighborhood yesterday just to check something out and make sure we were all safe.

Thanks so much for all you do....we are forever grateful just knowing that you will come when we need you.
