The Belmar Beach and Boardwalk to Reopen in May
The date should be confirmed soon, but Belmar is so far looking at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held on May 22nd.
Coucilwoman Jennifer Nicolay says it'll be a special celebration beginning in the morning. Details are being finalized, but they're looking at a ceremonial ribbon-cutting with the elementary students of Belmar and Saint Rose schools, and the Belmar Strong volunteers will be honored.
Belmar officials are hoping that Governor Christie will stop by to continue the beach re-opening celebration on Memorial Day weekend.
Belmar beach has been off-limits since the hurricane that destroyed the boardwalk and beach. Now, the boards for the boardwalk continue to be installed to get Ocean Avenue back up and running, and you can get a preview of the beginnings of the completed boardwalk where Ocean Ave has been reopened near the drawbridge.
